This workshop offers a progressive and accessible immersion into the world of colour, helping you understand it, create balanced harmonies, and use it with confidence, whatever your level of experience or artistic practice.

Combining theory with practical exercises, you will learn how to read the colour wheel, understand contrasts, build coherent colour palettes, and translate an intention or emotion into colour.

PROGRAMME

DAY 1 – Understanding Colour

Topics covered:

• What is colour?
• Primary, secondary, and tertiary colours
• The colour wheel: its construction, interpretation, logic, and limitations
• Hue, value, and saturation: understanding the three dimensions of colour
• Perceived colour versus actual colour

DAY 2 – Harmonies and Contrasts: Structuring Your Choices

Topics covered:

• The main types of colour harmonies (analogous, complementary, etc.)
• Colour contrasts
• Concepts of balance and dominance
• Colours and emotions

DAY 3 – Application and Personal Expression

Topics covered:

• Developing your own colour palette
• Adapting your palette to different applications (interiors, furniture, etc.)
• Learning how to analyse and refine your own work
